0 Nobby Headland

Video Tour:

A recent site visit for one of our new homes.  Spectacular Nobby Headland, Magnetic Island QLD.  Amazing location set amongst the tree tops and giant granite boulders.  With views through to Picnic Bay and back towards Townsville.

Melbourne Get Together:

9point9 Directors Zammi Rohan (QLD) and Tom Curtis (VIC) recently reunited with mates from UTAS Class of 2003 to celebrate 10 years since graduating.  Melbourne was selected as the meeting place - returning to the location of our first boys trip back in our uni days.  The focus of the trip was to research hospitality venues to check out the latest trends in bar design and ensure the beverages were being served at the appropriate temperature.  In some instances we had to test multiple times to ensure consistency.  The trip also included a number of competitions for the inaugural BArch trophy.  Although the award was not formally presented it was definitely a clean sweep by Zammi across all disciplines as he showed his outstanding speed, strength and skill (is it obvious who's writing this?).  A fitting memento was a team shot taken in Sean Godsell's Design Hub at RMIT.  On a sad note it was tragic that we lost a very close uni friend in the days following our reunion.  RIP Ross Langdon.  A great mate and exceptional architect.  Although you weren't able to meet up with us we know you were there in spirit.

0 Hobart Bar & Restaurant

New Hospitality Venue:

We are currently working through the detailed design stages for a new bar & restaurant in the Hobart Waterfront precinct.  The venue will be located in an existing industrial building.  We are collaborating with talented interior and lighting designers to produce a new and exciting experience for patrons.  If everything progresses smoothly the venue should be open by the end of 2013 - just in time for the festive season.

0 The Village

Our project at 'The Village' in Townsville is nearing completion. This is one of 4 2-storey townhouses under construction. These homes test new possibilities for high density housing and incorporate many energy efficient/sustainable materials and technologies.

0 Recent Projects

A collection of images showcasing some of the projects that we have worked on in recent times.  From 9point9 Architects Townsville, Melbourne and Hobart studios.

0 St Joseph's Playground

Pro Bono Design Work:

9point9 Architects has enjoyed their recent involvement with the design of the new fort and playground area at St Joseph's Junior School in North Ward, Townsville.  This project takes us back to where it all started... thinking of the ultimate fort design as a kid.  It's all about climbing, jumping and exploring different spaces.  The only difference is we've had to consider all the grown-up stuff including safety, supervision and the various construction related issues.  We really hope the students enjoy the new addition to their school and look forward to seeing it come to life.

0 Townsville Office Conversion Update

9point9 Converts House Into Modern Office:

The builders are nearing completion of our office conversion project in Townsville.  Some cool lighting, signage and landscaping to be completed in the next few days.  This building is the first to use Lysaght Kliplok 700hs as a wall cladding in a cyclonic region - and we are extremely happy with the result!  We have really enjoyed the design and construction process with the client and builders.  We will provide a full project description and professional photos in a couple of weeks time.

0 Airlie Beach

9point9 Architects has recently commenced a new Townhouse development at Airlie Beach.  We are excited about our first opportunity to work in the beautiful Whitsundays!  We are fortunate to have great clients with some very cool ideas.  This project will be headed by our Townsville studio, with specialist input from our Melbourne and Hobart teams.

0 Custom Furniture

Coffee Table:

9point9 Architects have been experimenting with the design and manufacture of customised furniture.  This coffee table is made from folded corten rusted steel with polished marine ply and stainless steel fixings.  This item is about balancing aesthetics and practicality.  The table is made from 2 structural pieces (frame and top) and 6 fixings.  the beauty of this object lies in it's simplicity.  The voids in the folded steel provide an ideal spot for storing books.  9point9 can provide a comprehensive design service including customised furniture to complement your new home or business.

0 Anglesea Update

Anglesea House Taking Shape:

The builders are making good progress down at Anglesea (tough gig working in that part of Australia).  The framing is in place and walls are being prepared for the installation of the Corten (rusted steel) cladding.  we're really looking forward to seeing how this turns out!  We've also been working on the interiors exploring various options for materials, lighting and joinery.  The house will really take shape over the coming weeks.  We will keep you posted.  Tommy C (9point9 VIC).
